How to confirm attendance of someone extra?

It seems you can do that by going to Payments and then "enter payment".
There you enter what the user paid or will pay and how.
Worked for me on our test instance.

This can also be done by going to Payments. Then you click on "unregister".
But then the user will be unregistered completely so maybe there
exists another method of doing this...?
